Lake of the Ozarks TowBoatU.S.

TowBoatU.S. started offering non-emergency towing services to members in 1987. They started on the East and West coast as those areas were the most populated waterways. They offered assistance towing, fuel drops, battery jumpstart, and soft ungrounding. In 2001, Captain Charles Meyer noticed the Lake of the Ozarks was growing and needed a TowBoatU.S. Service. He founded TowBoatU.S.- Lake of the Ozarks.

As the years passed, the number of boats on the lake continued to increase. Captain Meyer recognized the demand for service by adding 3 additional boats and captains to the fleet.

In 2015, BoatUS was purchased by GEICO, a Berkshire Hathaway company to better align for growth and to offer their customers much-needed specialized insurance policies for the marine industry. After 18 years, Captain Meyers retired and sold TowBoatUS – Lake of the Ozarks.

In 2019, 25-year resident of the lake area, Captain Travis Coleman saw the need for the service to be continued and bought TowBoatU.S. – Lake of the Ozarks. This business was a good fit with FirstMate Yacht Services, which Captain Travis founded in 2005.

With the purchase of TowBoatU.S. – Lake of the Ozarks, subtle changes was made to allow for quicker response time to the growing lake area. Since 2019, TowBoatU.S. has doubled its calls for assistance, improved response times, and coverage on the water. One thing is for sure, with a TowBoatU.S. membership, you can have peace of mind anytime you are out on the water.
